bald! – psoriasis journey part 3

I’m bald!!

I had chest length hair, it was super wiry and ratty because of the psoriasis. It was difficult to apply topical treatments to my scalp with all the hair in the way, and I had bald spots anyways.

So I finally decided as a Christmas gift to myself, to go to the barber and shave my head (I went to a 1). My barber was very nice, very understanding and even rubbed what plaques he could off my head with a boar bristle brush.

It’s so much easier to take care of my skin, I feel more confident than ever before. I have friends who I haven’t talked to in a long time coming through to tell me they’re proud of me, hope things go well for me, that I look amazing, and I’m so so grateful for the community I’ve built.

My biggest supporter, Donovan my boyfriend, was there when I was in the barber’s chair. He wanted to hold my hand but didn’t want to get in the way, haha. I am forever thankful for him and his endless love and support.

I know this is a short update but it’s a meaningful one. I was originally going to get a wig but I think I’m just gonna rock being a bald lady.

Lush masks!

I feel confident without my hair like I never thought I would. It’s also more easy (and fun) to put on masks!

Here’s what my head looks like without the covering. Im going to keep it covered for medical purposes but here’s a progress pic!
